How to test for Chromium VI
Chromium-6 Detection Test Kit - TK11™
Chromium-6 is harmful to both human health and the environment. The Chrome VI test kit allows you to quickly and safely test for the presence of Chromium-6 in paint, coatings, surface contaminants, dust particles, or other materials. This test provides quick and reliable results, helping ensure material safety.
The kit includes 25 test swabs and a sample for testing.
Chromium-6 Testing General Use
To perform the test, moisten the swab and rub it on the material or surface. If the swab remains light orange, no Chromium-6 is detected. If the swab turns red or purple, it indicates the presence of Chromium-6. This colour change is specific to Chromium-6 (VI) and does not occur with other forms of Chromium, such as Chromium-3 (III), which is harmless.
Testing for Chromium-6 in Surface Contamination and Dust Particles
This kit is ideal for testing surface contamination or dust particles for the presence of Chromium-6. Surface contamination may occur when metal or stainless-steel meets substances like lubricants, grease, or anti-seize and undergoes heat treatment. This process can lead to the formation of yellow calcium chromate (CaCrO4), which contains Chromium-6. Dust particles, often produced during welding, grinding, or sanding, can also contain Chromium-6. If contamination or dust contains Chromium-6, the swab will turn red or purple. If no Chromium-6 is present, the swab will remain orange. This test offers a quick and easy way to determine whether surfaces or dust particles are safe.
Applications: The Chromium-6 Detection Test Kit is ideal for various sectors, including:
- Marine engines
- Generators
- Biomass plants
- Combined heat and power (CHP) plants
This easy-to-use kit provides quick, reliable results, helping protect your workers from the risks of Chromium-6 exposure.
